Associate Prof David Barker
David is an Associate Professor in Organic and Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Auckland. David’s research focuses on the synthesis of organic molecules and whilst doing so exploring fundamental chemical principles to aid the development of efficient synthetic methods, and the preparation of novel molecular structures.
David’s research group has a strong focus on the translation of research to pratcical applications and includes the synthesis of complex compounds as novel treatments for dementia and cancer. His work in novel breast cancer treatments has been recognised and funded in part by the Health Research Council of New Zealand.
David is an author on over 120 publications and is a named inventor on 2 patents.
